Project Overview
This 1990s tract house sat on a generous lot but felt dark and compartmentalized—hardly fit for a young family who hosts piano recitals one night and pool parties the next. Alto Builders re‑imagined every major living zone, stitching together a warm palette of white oak, honed stone, playful pattern, and deep, moody greens. Arched steel windows and a sweeping double stair now anchor a light‑filled circulation spine, while a back‑to‑studs kitchen rebuild and spa‑level baths turn everyday rituals into small luxuries. The result is an eclectic, California‑casual home that balances serenity with bursts of personality.
Project Features
- Grand double‑curved stair & balcony with custom black‑steel balusters, checkerboard quartzite entry floor, and arched sight‑line to the rear garden
- Family kitchen: teal zellige tile walls, book‑matched quartzite waterfall island, panel‑ready refrigeration, and brass‑trimmed, disk pendants
- Integrated dining banquette wrapped in vertical white‑oak slats & flanked by cane‑back chairs for relaxed, resort‑style meals
- Fireside lounge: fluted‑tile fireplace surround, white‑oak built‑ins, sculptural leather chairs, and hidden AV for movie nights
- Color‑punch laundry / mudroom with graphic wallpaper, hex mosaic floor, and custom dog‑door for the family terrier
- Primary spa bath: rift‑cut walnut vanity, ribbed‑glass mirrors, walk‑through marble shower, and make‑up niche under clerestory light
- Formal music room housing a baby grand piano, patterned drapery, and arched accent windows framing garden views
- Indoor–outdoor connection via multiple black‑steel sliders opening to the pool deck and mature palms
- Energy upgrades: low‑E glazing, foam insulation, and high‑efficiency HVAC integrated during renovation
