Kitchen Remodeling in Los Angeles

A kitchen remodel is the highest-ROI renovation you can do in LA — and it's also the most complex. Plumbing, electrical, gas, structural, cabinetry, countertops, and appliances all converge in one room. Alto Builders manages the full scope so you get one contract, one schedule, and one team from demo day through final walkthrough.

We handle design-build projects in-house — Lana models your kitchen in Chief Architect with 3D renderings before we break ground. For architect-led projects, we bid from plans and execute to spec. Every job is tracked in Buildertrend with daily photo logs, a shared schedule, and real-time budget visibility. Licensed general contractor, CSLB #1118841.

What We Build

  • Full Kitchen Renovations — Studs-out remodels: demo existing kitchen, reframe if needed, new plumbing and electrical rough-in, custom cabinetry, stone countertops, tile or hardwood flooring, under-cabinet and recessed lighting, appliance installation
  • Cabinet & Countertop Upgrades — Swap out builder-grade cabinets for custom or semi-custom options with soft-close hardware. Countertop fabrication and install in quartz, marble, quartzite, or granite with undermount sinks
  • Open-Concept Conversions — Remove load-bearing walls between kitchen and living spaces. We handle the structural engineering, steel beam install, and city inspection — then rebuild the kitchen to take advantage of the new layout
  • Islands & Layout Changes — Add or relocate an island with waterfall edges, prep sinks, power outlets, or seating. Replumb and rewire as needed to support the new footprint
  • Appliance Integration — Panel-ready refrigerators, 36" or 48" professional ranges, integrated dishwashers, custom range hoods, and dedicated 220V circuits for heavy-draw appliances

Our Process

  1. Design ConsultationWe walk your existing kitchen, measure, photograph, and discuss what's working and what isn't. You'll leave with a rough scope and ballpark budget. For design-build projects, we produce 3D renderings so you approve the layout before we pull permits.
  2. Planning & PermitsMaterial selections at our vendor partners, finalized architectural drawings, and permit applications to LADBS or your local building department. Typical permit turnaround in LA is 4–8 weeks.
  3. ConstructionDemo, rough-in (plumbing, electrical, gas, HVAC if needed), drywall, cabinetry install, countertop template and fabrication, tile backsplash, flooring, paint, fixtures, and appliance hookup. You get daily photo updates in Buildertrend.
  4. Final WalkthroughWe walk every detail with you — drawer alignment, grout lines, appliance operation, outlet placement. Any punch list items get resolved before we hand over the keys.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends entirely on scope. A cosmetic refresh — new countertops, backsplash, paint, and hardware on existing cabinets — runs $30,000–$50,000. A mid-range remodel where you're replacing cabinets, countertops, flooring, and appliances but keeping the same layout is typically $60,000–$100,000. Once you start moving plumbing, gas, or walls, you're looking at $100,000–$150,000+. We give you a fixed-price contract after the design phase so there are no surprises.

A cosmetic update takes 4–6 weeks. A standard remodel with new cabinets and countertops takes 8–12 weeks. A full gut with layout changes runs 12–16 weeks, not counting the 4–8 week permit wait. We build a detailed schedule in Buildertrend before construction starts and update it daily.

If you're touching plumbing, electrical, gas, or structure — yes. That covers most kitchen remodels beyond a simple cosmetic refresh. We pull all permits through LADBS (City of LA) or your local building department, and we schedule and attend every inspection. Unpermitted work can kill a future sale, so we never skip this.

Everything from first meeting to move-in: design consultation, 3D renderings (design-build projects), material selection, architectural plans, permit applications, demolition, framing, plumbing and electrical rough-in, drywall, cabinetry, countertop fabrication, backsplash tile, flooring, paint, fixtures, appliance install, and a final walkthrough with punch list. One contractor, one contract.
